Hurricane Screens by Storm Catcher

Measuring and Installation

Measuring and installation of the Storm Catcher product is very straight forward. The most common measuring is to provide the width and height of the opening one wants to protect. Keep in mind we need 3” on either side or top and bottom to attach the Storm Catcher. We will need to know if the Storm Catcher screen will be installed at the top and bottom OR on each side. As an option you can add additional fasteners on any portion of the screen that does does not have the required fasteners.

For example, if your cover is to be attached at the top and bottom or each side, as required to meet the installation requirements of the Storm Catcher system, you could choose additional fasteners on the edges not fastened already. We offer this option simply to provide some additional piece of mind. You DO NOT have to add any optional additional fasteners to enjoy the full protection of the Storm Catcher system.

The installation using Tampin(R) Brand Machine Screw Anchors holds the Storm Catcher screen in place around the opening with the upper right and left grommet holes firmly in place. (Don’t stretch the material just firmly extend) Then use a marker through the grommets marking the spot to install the first two Tampins(R).

Install the Tampins(R) at the marks. Then, install the cover using the freshly installed Tampins(R) and sidewalk bolts. Then, holding the cover squarely and firmly in place, mark the surface using the rest of the grommet holes as guides. You will see that these grommets are approximately 6” apart. You guessed it, install a Tampin(R) at each mark point. Then simply use a sidewalk bolt through each grommet into the corresponding Tampin(R).

That is it! You have completed the installation process. If you choose to have the optional additional fasteners added to your storm catcher, then repeat the marking process for those grommet holes. You will note these fasteners are approximately 12” apart.

Now, take the screens down and fold them neatly and insert them into the storage bag. Then, safely store them until a storm threatens.

Here is a one page instruction sheet on how to properly install the tri-glide locking system on the strap-and-buckle screen. Tri-glide locking system (pdf)

Note the tri-glide locks the strap in place after deployment. It prevents the strap from slipping in the event of sustained, continuous pressure changes during a hurricane. The tri-glide should be left in place on the strap when the screen is taken down and stored.

OH, by the way don’t forget where you stored them!
